We held our inaugural Alumni Week from March 19–23 and welcomed alumni to both our Chicago and Schaumburg campuses to serve as guest lecturers and share their professional experiences and achievements with our students. Michael Wilton has been awarded the scholarship of $10,000 for the 2018-19 academic year from the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB).

Briefly Noted

Accounting Alumnus Donates $900,000 for Endowed Scholarship

One of our accounting alumni, Kenneth Grenier, recently contributed $900,000 to create an endowed scholarship for accounting students in honor of his uncle, Donald Roy Blank, who was an accountant for Zenith Corporation.

Students Chosen to Present Proposals at 2018 CGI Conference

A number of our students developed and submitted proposals on addressing crucial social, economic and environmental challenges facing our society to the 2018 Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) conference; eight were accepted to present their proposals.

Task Force Created to Guide Strategic Development

This year, a task force consisting of faculty, students, alumni and advisory board representatives to work to develop a vision statement for HCB that serves as the foundation of our strategic direction and priorities was created. The task force shared the draft and revisions of the mission statement with faculty and HCB advisory boards, receiving valuable feedback that was incorporated in the final documents. During the February HCB Faculty Council meeting, these documents were unanimously approved.

Faculty Mentorship Program Launched

A new Faculty Mentorship Program for our freshman and sophomore students was hosted on Oct. 17, 2017 and will continue to serve as a critical component of future key HCB initiatives.

Center for Experiential Education Created

The College of Business believes experiential education is critical to our students’ professional career success. Accordingly, we created a new Center for Experiential Education (CEE) in December 2017.

New HCB Alumni Advisory Board Created

A new Alumni Advisory Board for the HCB was created on Jan. 22, 2018 to facilitate alumni outreach, mentorship and networking opportunities for our students and their professional preparation.
