Supporting Black Students

In response to the recent protests against police violence, there have been many conversations about how Roosevelt can support Black students.

Here are some of the resources and organizations available on campus:

Roosevelt established the Black Student Equity Fund and raised close to $50,000 for scholarships, programming and events.
The Office of Multicultural Student Support Services advocates on behalf of students of color and other underrepresented groups, helping to navigate life on campus.
Through the Illinois Equity in Attainment Initiative, Roosevelt has developed an equity plan to eliminate gaps in degree completion rates.
The Black Student Union creates opportunities for involvement, community service, and educational and professional development.

Rosalyn Kliot (BA ’68)

Rosalyn, the daughter of Holocaust survivors, attended Roosevelt at a time when its students flocked to Chicago’s civil rights and anti-war protests. She sees the same urgent battle in the idealistic causes fought for then and now.
